North America
The U.S. has a large number of popular and challenging mountain bike trails. Many of these are old trails that were formed as paths for people on foot and on horseback, but some have been formed specifically for pedaling, not walking. 
Whistler, Canada
Widely considered to be one of the best mountain bike destinations in the world, Whistler really needs no introduction. Located in the stunning coast mountains of British Columbia, Whistler offers over 120 miles of trails with many accessible by the chair lifts used during the ski season. Inside the Whistler Bike Park there’s over 50 way-marked runs which vary in difficulty and technicality.
Mustang, Nepal
Mountain biking in the Himalayan foothills may sound intimidating, and it certainly is! This is an area for experienced mountain bikers who love gorgeous scenery and local culture. One of the best trails is called Lo Manthang, which leads into the royal city of Mustang. Most bikers start their journey near Annapurna or at the nearby airports in Jomsom or Kathmandu.
Finale Ligure, Italy
Many people haven’t heard of Finale Ligure as a mountain biking destination, but it’s one of the most beautiful regions to bike in Italy. Expect to find rolling hills that hug the coastline and peaceful trails full of postcard-perfect scenery. The trail becomes narrow at portions and twists and turns along the hills, so you’ll need to be skilled with maneuvering your bike before attempting this route.
Rotorua New Zealand
Firmly put on the world map with the hosting of the 2006 world championships, New Zealand’s Rotorua has been described by many as one of the hottest places to ride. It has an impressive claim to the title of the ‘best trails in the world’, with a network of over 100km of trails built in the Whakarewarewa Forest, which are also some of the oldest in the country. A rich playground of trails in lush surroundings makes it a must-ride destination.
