Yucatan Dive Sites

The State of Yucatan has over 3500 Cenotes with many water filled caves. Most caves are deeper than in Q.Roo in the 130 feet / 40 meter to 200 feet / 60 meter range. The caves are much shorter in penetration distance. Most of the Cenotes are located in remote areas with a steep 30 feet / 9 meter drop from the jungle floor to the water surface. Most of the Cenotes in the Yucatan are Sinkholes with no connected horizontal cave passages. Some of theses Sinkholes exceed 500 feet / 150 meters in depth.Technical diving techniques have to be employed to safely dive the deep caves of the Yucatan.

Cenote & Cave Dive Sites

The Cenotes are located within the Riviera Maya starting at Playa del Carmen untill South and West of Tulum. The five largest underwater caves of the world are located in the Riviera Maya. All caves are disolution caves with a depth of 20 feet / 6 meters – 70 feet / 21 meters. The Halocline, the interface of freshwater on top and saltwater below is connected to the distance to the coast line. Close to the coast the Halocline is in 15 feet / 5 meters of water, most of the caves within the Riviera Maya do have the Halocline at a depth of 35 feet / 11 meters. The year around water temperature is 78 F / 24 C with visibility in the 200 feet / 60 meter range. Most caves have very good access by car and walk to the water.

Cavern Dive Sites

Cavern Diving is similar to cave diving, the difference is that some natural light is visible to you at all times. So cavern divers don’t go as deep into the passages as cave divers do. The cave opening doesn’t need to be visible, just some sort of natural light emanating from that opening. The penetration limit for cavern diving is 200 feet (60 m) from the cave opening. Cavern divers also use a guide line to prevent getting lost, but it’s already attached to the cave floor or wall.

Hiking in Machu Picchu

Hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was hands down the highlight of our three months in South America. Going into our RTW trip, we knew that joining a classic four day trek to Machu Picchu would be the one excursion that we would splurge on while abroad.

Trekking Machu Picchu is one of the world’s top adventure trips. Irrespective of whether it is due to the fact that you have a really profound like of ancient historical past, trekking out in the wildness or just like doing a little something adventurous, this trek will make for an enjoyable journey.                       Machu Picchu

Everyone knows about the Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu, Peru Travel. And as we have said before, despite its reputation for overcrowding, high cost and just being ‘touristy’ (none of which we think is true), trekking Machu Picchu and trekking Peru remains one of the premier trekking experiences in the world.

When it comes to Machu Picchu hikes, you have two main decisions to make: the length of the hike and the size of the tour. Some travelers don’t like the idea of joining a big tour group and would rather pay extra money to hire their own hiking guide. Others, especially solo travelers, like the idea of joining other fellow adventure enthusiasts for a hike. The second decision is the length. While it may be romantic to follow in the footsteps of the Incas along the Inca Trail connecting Cusco and Machu Picchu, not every traveler will have the fitness level and desire to make five days of hiking including camping a worthwhile adventure.

Exploreandes was described by Frommer’s as one of “the top high-end agencies” for hiking in Peru and as “especially good for forming very small private groups.” The company offers several hiking tours, most of which visit Machu Picchu as part of a larger exploration of the Sacred Valley and other nearby areasOne hike that covers Machu Picchu and more is the seven-day Inca Trails of Cusco tour. The tour format uses vehicle and train transfers to drop off and pick up hikers at the end of a series of day hikes, who spend each night in a hotel or country inn rather than camping.

Inca Trail Combining beautiful mountain scenery with a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels, the classic Inca Trail is the best known route to Machu Picchu, but it’s hardly a walk in the park. The 42km camping trek begins at the terraced ruins of Ollantaytambo (2792m), from where you’ll visit archaeological sites Llactapata, Qoriwayrachina and Wallabamba before reaching the highest point of the trek at Dead Woman’s Pass (4125m).

The Inca Trail hike takes place high in the Andes mountains, and it is important to allow your body to get used to the thinner air before starting the hike. All trekkers should plan to spend three days in Cuzco before the trek to acclimatize.

Mountain Biking in Chile

Mountain-biking requires a specialized bike with wider tires and deeper treads to allow the bike to grip onto off-road terrain. It allows you to take your bike into areas you could not go with a road-bike, and also can offer something of an adrenalin rush as you go up and down steep hills, across streams, etc.

The activity can be taken at a slow pace on easy routes, but typically it is practiced as a demanding sport at a fast pace and on rough terrain, and in some areas, requires you to take the bike and carry it across difficult parts. In such cases, it demands excellent physical condition.  Mountain Biking

On this Chile mountain biking holiday we commence our journey eastwards from Puerto Varas, beside Lago Llanquilhue and the ever impressive Volcano Osorno. En route we pause to appreciate the series of rapids and waterfalls of Saltos de Petrohue, before leaving Chile for the moment and crossing into Argentina. From here we head along the lovely Ruta de Las Siete Lagos‚ to San Martin de los Andes. Situated on the edge of Lago Lacar, San Martin is the perfect place to relax and reflect on the mountain biking holiday so far.

Parque Los Alerces We will mountain bike into the Pampas of Argentina, with its dramatic change in landscape. Our first destination will be the small welsh village of Trevlin. We will visit and learn about the unique European heritage of this area. Then we will ride to a lake in Parque Nacional de los Alerces, home of the giant, endangered 3000 year old Alerce trees before heading back to Futaleufu.

Palena Valley Circuit A mountain bike circuit through the Andes Mountains that lets riders experience the real Patagonia. We visit villages and hamlets that are way off the international tourist routes. Spectacular scenery and a great cultural experience await.

Andes to the Pacific Starting in the small alpine village of Futaleufu we will mountain bike through the entire country of Chile to the seaside village of Chaiten on the Southern Pacific Ocean. On route you will see or experience hanging glaciers, hot springs, scenic volcanoes, temperate rainforests, alpine lakes, exotic wildlife, and unique micro climates.

We can arrange for chaffeur service, shopping at the house, a cook for an evening meal, and even a masseur.

Many couples are looking forward to their honeymoon in a distant location. One of the best experiences for celebrating a honeymoon is by getting close to the sea. The beauty of the beach along with the serene location is the best place for the couples to be together and bond. Here are some great beach honeymoon destinations in Europe. Tuscany beaches

Tuscany

Once honeymooning in Tuscany Beaches, you will understand why so many artists have made its landscape their permanent canvas. Florence is the capital of Tuscany Beach and has been called the “jewel in the crown of the Renaissance”. It is a romantic destination of its own. Whether you marvel at the amazing architecture, art and history in Florence, stroll the cobblestone streets of Siena or meander through the Chianti region indulging in a wine tour, you will not be disappointed with the Tuscany Beach region.

Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is connected by one of the most scenic roads in Italy. As you make your way along the coastal road, the shoreline glistens with cobalt blue waters and is accentuated with olive trees, wine vineyards and lemon groves. With each twist and turn, you will marvel at the dramatic coastline dotted with the glamorous seaside resorts of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, just to name a few.

Sicily

This may seem like an unusual suggestion on a honeymoon destination list, but after listening to an episode of The Amateur Traveler that was all about Sicily, I think it’s probably the ideal honeymoon spot for people who want to experience more of the “real” Italy – the more intense Italy – and, perhaps even more important, those who want to escape the crowds.he Sicily podcast interviewed Madeline Jhawar, who used to be a tour guide in Italy and who spent her own honeymoon in Sicily. She points out that it’s where tour guides in Italy go on vacation, and if there’s a better endorsement than that, I don’t know of one. Sicily is the biggest island in the Mediterranean and enjoys warm weather all year long in fact, it’s downright stifling in summer, so it’s a great spot for a fall or winter honeymoon.

Barleycove

Barleycove is a gorgeous beach in Ireland. Couples who wish to have a secluded honeymoon spot far from the crowds can choose this location with its few notable attractions like the rolling waves, sand dunes and lovely sand. The surrounding areas are interesting with sand dunes and lagoons. You may also get to watch herring gulls, swans and cormorants. Explore the nearby villages Coleen and Crookhaven for a change.

Marbella

Marbella Beach lovers who want to be seen and see around choose this little resort town for their honeymoon. Situated on the southern coast of Spain, it has miles and miles of sandy, sunny beaches, casinos and the glamorous cosmopolitan crowd. Enjoy sunbathing with your partner or indulge in various other sporting activities by the sea as long as you wish.
